Thirteen Details About My Father

Site-Specific Solo Work

Choreographer Dancer Singer

Commissioned by Raw Dance and the Yerba Buena Gardens Dance Festival, 13 Details About My Father was a personal exploration of my memories of my father, who passed away when I was young. Vivacious, hilarious, and complicated, he left a legacy in my mind that amplifies with time, and I still crave knowing him now that I am an adult. Part song and dance, the 13 minute solo started with a folk rendition of “Under the Apple Tree” before exploring memories of my hometown in Kansas where I grew up with my Dad. The work ends with a frenetic dance in my father’s old suit jacket that I then leave on the clothing wire as a testament to his enduring presence in my life.
